The lecture enlightens leaners on how to diffuse thinking and create sketches. One also learns how to achieve design goals every step. One of the key points I learned from Verplank is that art, design, and craft are essential. As a designer, it is vital to know what connects people and the world between them. Secondly, the audience should understand what the designer is seeing or hearing (Verplank, 2011). Finally, people’s perception is essential. The designers should know people’s thoughts to design something suitable for them. He teaches how to develop the map, and the designers can make simple and straightforward plans. Typically, designers need to have denigration traveling whet it is the design of an actual map or mind map. Every step of the design determines the direction of the final results.
The Verplank’s talk has several points that carry a lot of significance. According to his talk, art is usually referred to as the aspect that relates to conceptual interpretation in object making. The other element which relates the object to the purpose intended is customarily referred to as design (Verplank, 2011). When carrying out or making a design, there must be a purpose for it to be referred to as design. In a case where there is no purpose, the making can be categorized as art as there is the belief that there can be conceptual interpretation. Craft is majorly defined as that quality of execution in making and coming up with objects.
Verplank (2011) clearly describes the new technological and creative method that people are incorporating to come up with new sounds through tight and loose strings and force feedback. Notably, sketching is essential in designing objects. A pencil usually assists a lot in the drawing. There are three types of questions that the interaction designers typically need to interact with. These types of questions are such as how you carry out things. The second question is meant to describe the feelings a person feels after doing something. The third question revolves around the thinking capacity of a person.
The video highlights the importance and the concepts which revolve around human beings and the world. It carefully analyzes and describes the factors, such as what designers need to know. Verplank highlights that for designers to come up with a practical design; they need to understand people’s thoughts before designing. He goes further to mention that the views of people cannot be seen.
